Tango for Rainmeter by garbanzox Tango for Rainmeter by garbanzox
my weather meter has been quite popular, so i decided to make some more meters to match it.

but the weather meter updated a bit - now it only offers white text with a shadow, there is no dark version.

these are 3 separate meters, you can pick and choose which ones you want to display.

don't forget to change the location for your weather meter. instructions in the INI.

if there is demand i will make more meters in this suite. until then, enjoy!

may 2016 - fix update:

in the script the right url now is:

wxdata.weather.com/wxdata/weather/local/   ....

instead of

xml.weather.com/weather/local/    ....

take a look here:

Wait how do you figure that code out?
Reply
:iconikbenangieaanhet:
IkBenAngieAanHet Featured By Owner Apr 22, 2012
If you go to weather.com and search* your City, State, for example, "Eden, NY", you will get this kind of URL:
http://www.weather.com/weather/today/USNY0445:1:US
rather than this one:
http://www.weather.com/weather/today/14057:4:US

And that's how I figured the code from the first URL:
http://www.weather.com/weather/today/USNY0445:1:US

* Do NOT search your Zip Code

I have the same problem. Doesn't even work with the original weather code in the ini file.
The skin just loads half-way and then nothing happens.

Half-way? I'm taking a guess that you mean it just loads like this: [link] , correct?
Did you change this code:
URL=http://xoap.weather.com/weather/local/HUXX0002?cc=*&unit=m&dayf=6
to this one:
URL=http://xml.weather.com/weather/local/HUXX0002?cc=*&unit=m&dayf=6

Your URL should look like this:
http://xml.weather.com/weather/local/DAXX0002?
in the configuration.

Is there an easy Way to put a 'Title' Bar in so I can get it to show my hometown's name Above the forecast?
Reply
:icontaofox:
TaoFox Featured By Owner Nov 8, 2011
I was able to get it to show the hometown name below the forecast, not above. If it was to be above the forecast, you'd have to shift everything else down.

This might work for you:
When you edit the configuration for the weather panel,
  • Change the code under the [Variables] section to this:
    ;Please replace your location code of Weather.com below, e.g: Sydney is ASXX0112.
    ;You can check it on Weather.com or Google.
    ;And you may also delete "WeatherUnit=f" if you prefer the Celsius Scale.

    WeatherCodeLocation=USMI0735
    WeatherUnit=f
    Font=Calibri

  • Change the code under the [MeasureWeatherRSS] section to this:
    Measure=Plugin
    Plugin=Plugins\WebParser.dll
    UpdateRate=3600
    Url=http://xml.weather.com/weather/local/#WeatherCodeLocation#?cc=*&unit=#WeatherUnit#&dayf=6
    RegExp="(?siU)<weather
    ver="(.*)">(.*)<tmp>(.*)</tmp>(.*)<t>(.*)</t>(.*)<icon>(.*)</icon>(.*)<day d="1" t="(.*)" dt="(.*)">(.*)<hi>(.*)</hi>(.*)<low>(.*)</low>(.*)<icon>(.*)</icon>(.*)<t>(.*)</t>(.*)<day d="2" t="(.*)" dt="(.*)">(.*)<hi>(.*)</hi>(.*)<low>(.*)</low>(.*)<icon>(.*)</icon>(.*)<t>(.*)</t>(.*)<day d="3" t="(.*)" dt="(.*)">(.*)<hi>(.*)</hi>(.*)<low>(.*)</low>(.*)<icon>(.*)</icon>(.*)<t>(.*)</t>(.*)"
    StringIndex=1
    IfAboveValue=1
    IfAboveAction=!execute [!RainmeterHideMeter

    MeterIconNA][!RainmeterShowMeter MeterIcon]
    ;Debug=1nmeterShowMeter MeterIcon]
    ;Debug=1

The codings may have to be changed in some other sort of way or it's because of the conflicts that RM has. Note me your config. text of it.

I don't know how much you care, but this skin could be written much better. For example, you created the shadow effect by creating duplicate meters and offsetting them and all of your string meters share a lot of common font styles. Rainmeter has built-in features for better coding both of these:

;To create a shadow effect identical to yours but in only two lines
StringEffect=SHADOW
FontEffectColor=0,0,0,180

;Even better, since all the text has a shadow and is the same color and alignment, define a style and apply it to all the strings
[Text]
FontColor=255,255,255,255
StringAlign=RIGHT
StringEffect=SHADOW
FontEffectColor=0,0,0,180
FontFace=#Font#
Antialias=1

;Then your meter definitions can be more succinct and if you want to change the look of the whole skin you only have to change the style (rather than 30 meters!)
[MeterDesc]
MeasureName=MeasureWeatherDesc
Meter=STRING
MeterStyle=Text
X=110
Y=17
StringStyle=BOLD
FontSize=9
