Artist's Comments

This is a minor mod of the basic Aero theme for Windows 7.

It removes:
- White gradient in upper corners of window frames
- White diagonal stripes behind all aero glass (window frames, taskbar, etc.)
- Dark smoke behind the start orb and clock area of the taskbar

The theme makes Aero look much better against dark wallpapers.

To use, first download and run the Universal Theme Patcher [link]

Then download my theme, and extract it to C:/Windows/Resources/Themes

Go into the Themes folder, and double-click on aeroplain.theme to apply.

You may need to restart again after you apply the theme to remove the stripes from your taskbar.

[UPDATE | 03 July 2009]
Removed the dark smoke behind the start orb and the clock area (not shown in screenshot). Taskbar is now uniformly transparent. Thanks to Generator at sevenforums.com for his help!

thanks! i love the aero theme, but always hated those stripes, and now that they're always visible i the taskbar in windows 7, they just had to go :D

May I ask what part did you changed to make this theme ? I don't really like the glass either but I'd prefer to make the stripes a little bit more plain rather than completely hide it :)

Thank you

are you familiar with ResHacker? there is a PNG resource in the file aero.msstyles that you need to edit. it's resource 971, you'll find it under Stream. to lessen the impact of the stripes, you'll just need to reduce the opacity of that portion of the image.
